Did you ever hear living the life without friend is kind of
boring? I am pretty sure every human being who lives in this beautiful world at
least has one friend to spend time with. We can’t deny some people tend to
enjoy being alone but actually they still need at least somebody to be with; to
share stories, foods, excitements or burdens. Sharing things is one of the most
precious thing that we could do to feel a meaningful life. I feel it too with
two of my friends, Helmi and Ucok. They are my best friends that I could share
everything with nothing to hide. Since we get along for quite long, all I know
about them is just the same, they are my close friens. Yet I barely notice
there are several obvious differences between these my two close friends.
First, the way they stare at someone, especially girls. I
can say Helmi has a wilder eyes than Ucok. I feel like Helmi easily detect
every beautiful girl that passes him. Not only detect but also the way he
stares is like observing. Sometimes I think it’s a bit rude to stare at girls
like that but he does it anyway. Not
like Helmi, Ucok always try to lower his gaze everytime he sees a girl passes
through. Sometimes he looks at girl a litle while but I surely know he always tries
to look down in order to give respect to a girl.
Second, their interests are really contradictory. Again it’s
about girls. Ucok is more attracted with a girl covered by Hijab. Conversely,
the sexier a girl, the more atrracted Helmi will be. I ever heard what Ucok
said, he doesn’t like to see a girl with no cover on the head. I also find they
are different at their favorite food. Helmi is a spicy lover while Ucok tend to
eat sour food. I’ve ever had dinner with Helmi, he ate “ayam geprek” with ten
chilies. Even for me two chilies is enough to burn my mouth because it’s too
spicy.
Third, the way they dress up is completely different. Helmi
is a big guy but he likes to wear short pants and long sleeve, in contrast Ucok
has much smaller body than Helmi but he always feel uncomfortable to wear any
pants above the knee and he likes to wear t-shirt. Ucok told me he feels odd
every time he wears pants shorter than the knee. He doesn’t want a girl to see
his thigh that way. The one likes short pants with long sleeve, the other one
likes to wear long pants with t-shirt.
Based on what I knew, Helmi and Ucok are just the same, they
are my close friend. In fact, there are some obvious things that I didn’t
notice about them. They are different in many ways. However, differences can’t
be a reason for me to stop being friend. Even these differences could be
colouring our friendship. One more thing that makes me realize, they don’t have
to be the same just to become my friend. Differences are okay and it’s good.
